Introduction
While promising a powerful and flavoursome vape, the Vaporesso XROS is a slim pod with a three hole adjustable airflow. But with the market flooded with Pod styled vape devices. Can the Vaporesso XROS stand apart from the crowd? Importantly what if any issues have arisen whilst reviewing the XROS pod vape device from Vaporesso.

Packaging

Typical of the packaging style of Vaporesso, the colour and imagery reflects the chosen colour option for the Vaporesso XROS pod starter kit. Moreover the laminated image fills most of the front. Additionally the front shows key elements of the Vaporesso XROS in icon form. While on the back is the specifications, contents, governmental compliance logos, health warnings and authenticity checker.
Removing the lid reveals an envelope containing the user manual. Furthermore underneath lays the Vaporesso XROS with the 0.8Ω mesh pod pre-fitted, sat within its plastic inlay. While alongside lays the XROS 1.2Ω pod, and USB-C cable.
Build quality

Undoubtedly the Vaporesso XROS is not only simple to look at. But is equally simple to operate. Despite the rounded edges the XROS remains a particularly square pod kit. Consequentially the Vaporesso XROS can feel a little uncomfortable to hold.

Nonetheless the graduated coloured exterior is comprised of a single shell, making for a seamless finish. However the finish of the paintwork resembles more of a sloppy paint job than that of a brushed metal finish.
While the Vaporesso XROS can be drawn fired, the audible fire button is placed perfectly for thumb firing. Furthermore beneath the fire button lays the reasonably bright status LED indicator. Additionally when vaped, the status LED indicates the current level of charge.
Without a doubt the three hole adjustable airflow of the XROS is a nice feature, that is easily adjustable by thumb. But can be accidentally covered by the forefinger.

Obviously the very clear PCTG of the well formed 2ml pods makes for super easy viewing of current e-liquid levels, which is great. Although the removal of the mouthpiece to refill can get a little messy. As a result of some particularly yet thin strong magnets, the pods fit to the XROS with a reassuring click.
Dimensions
Without a doubt the Vaporesso XROS is perfect for carrying around. Especially when the XROS only weighs 51g and dimensionally is only 13mm thick from the front to the back. Furthermore the XROS stands 112mm tall, with a width of 23mm.
Functionality
Without a doubt vape pods of this nature offer little functionality, tending instead to favour a simple and easy vape experience. However it would have been nice to have seen a coil warm up function on the Vaporesso XROS.
Battery Use

Featuring an internal 800 mAh battery, the battery capacity of the Vaporesso XROS is good for a pod kit of this size. Moreover the amount of time between charges is very good and as expected for a device of this nature. Moreover powering the 0.8Ω mesh pod at 16W, the XROS can last around 2 days, depending on usage.
Naturally this makes the XROS perfect for popping out to the shops, or for those extra nicotine hits from Nic Salts.
While many will be pleased with the inclusion of a USB-C connector, the XROS has a reported charging rate of 5V 1A.
Furthermore charging and battery levels are indicated on the LED on the front of the XROS. Where a red LED indicates 0-30% battery life remaining, a blue LED indicates 30-70%. While the green LED indicates 70-100% of battery capacity remaining.
Additionally if the need arises the XROS will stop charging if you require a quick vape, and will continue to charge after the fire button has been released.
Refilling

Importantly refilling of the 2ml Vaporesso XROS pods is both easy and a little clumsy. Moreover to reveal the refilling gasket, the mouthpiece needs to be removed, which can cause condensed e-liquid to leak onto your fingers. Nonetheless once removed refilling is suitably easy to refill and replace the mouthpiece.
Airflow

Importantly the 3 hole adjustable airflow design of the Vaporesso XROS, allows for easy adjustments. Regardless of the selected restriction of the airflow the vape remains smooth with no turbulence. But while the automated inhalation firing is a little delayed, it is less noticeable than others on the market. A point of note, the automated inhalation of the XROS improves greatly the more the airflow is closed down.
Coil Replacement
Without a doubt true pods are the most easiest to replace the coil. Moreover instead of removing a coil, then priming and reinserting the coil, the pod is simply removed and thrown away. While the new pod is refilled and left to sit for 10-15 minutes.
XROS 0.8Ω Mesh Pod

Break-in time for the XROS 0.8Ω mesh pod is very quick indeed, producing a flavoursome vape from the onset. Moreover fruits come through very well with a great range of flavour profiles produced. However when the weather is above 28˚C the XROS 0.8Ω suffers from coil flooding. Resulting in e-liquid being pulled through and into the mouth. Nonetheless the flavour and throat hit from 20mg Nic salt is great with one and a half holes open in the airflow control.
XROS 1.2Ω Mesh Pod

Clearly the XROS 0.8Ω mesh pod is the winner for flavour. Moreover the XROS 1.2Ω mesh pod produces an ok vape. But not as flavoursome as the 0.8Ω mesh pod. Furthermore throat hits with 20mg Nic Salt is all but non-existent.
Protection
Powered by a variant of the Vaporesso Axon chipset, the VaporessoXROS pod offers the following levels of protection.
Protection | LED Indication |
Low Resistance Protection | 5 Red Blinks |
Short-Circuit Protection. | Also 5 Red Blinks |
No Load Protection. | Also 5 Red Blinks |
High Resistance Protection | Also 5 Red Blinks |
Low Voltage Protection | 3 Red Blinks |
Over Charge Protection | Stops Charging |
Over Discharge Protection | Also 3 Red Blinks |
Auto-Shut off Protection (8s) | Also 3 Red Blinks |
Niggles
It is fair to say the Vaporesso XROS had only the one issue when reviewing. Moreover the flooding issue of the 0.8Ω coil in warmer weather (28˚C). As a result, e-liquid get sucked into the mouth when vaping. However this did stop once the weather cooled back down to below 28˚C.
Summary
While the pod market is saturated with “pen” style pods. Vaporesso have been able to stand apart from the cloud with the XROS pod kit. Moreover the adjustable airflow not only makes a difference with flavour but also with the amount of throat hit. Furthermore the flavour produced with the XROS 0.8Ω mesh pod is great and produces some wonderful fruit profiles including Mango and Peach.
