Introduction

Dinner Lady as an e-liquid manufacture has been around some time. However the Dinner Lady Pod is their first attempt at entering the pod market. Simplicity is key here, no bells and no whistles. While out getting petrol, instead of a pack of 20 cigarettes, pickup a Dinner Lady Pod instead.

You may be wondering why I am mentioning petrol, well for those who don’t know Dinner Lady is heading into petrol garages.

Packaging

Packaging for the Dinner Lady Pod Device, is instant recognisable as being from Dinner Lady. However this is only because of their logo. Despite the small packaging on the front is of course the Dinner Lady logo, an image of the pod, a small blurb, and nicotine strength within the pod. Some icons on the side stating no charging required, ready to use and dispose of when used. Additionally on the back is a huge amount of information including the usual health and warning signs, and once again the nicotine strength.

Inside the box, is a sealed foil pouch containing the pod, with the same printing as the outer box.

Build quality

For a disposable pod, the Dinner Lady Pod feels extremely sturdy and reliable, with thanks to its aluminium body. While the pod is finished in a lovely matte black the Dinner Lady logo is in white. Simple and stylish, it feels almost a shame to throw it away once it is finished with.

Dimensionally the pod is 102 mm tall by 18 mm wide. Which is the same as other pods with larger batteries, how ever it weighs only 15.5 grams.

Functionality

As pods go the Dinner Lady Pod is a simple as it gets, remove the drip tip bung, and vape.
This really is a simple throw away pod, with no turning on, no charge ports or refill holes to worry about. Instead it is all about an instant no-nonsense method of smoking cessation.

Presumably to stop condensation and any leakage the pod comes with a bung for the drip tip, that you remove while vaping. While this effective it is a bit fiddly with cold fingers.

There is a blue LED on the base of the pod that lights up when vaping indicating it is working correctly. Additionally when the liquid has run out the blue LED will flash constantly.

Battery Use

While containing a 300 mAh battery, we don’t need to worry about it. Lasting until empty, then sadly throw away.

Refilling

Refilling is again not something the user needs to be concerned with. Consequentially, the pod is no longer usable once the 1.2 ml pod is empty.

Airflow

The airflow on the Dinner Lady Pod is actually very smooth, although not the tightest MTL draw, it should appeal to many.

Protection

Undocumented.

Flavour

The flavour is very good from the Dinner Lady Pod Device with the Lemon Tart. Providing an especially smooth vape that is very, very close to that of its 70VG variant. Additionally the throat hit is not harsh even with 20 MG and I am normally vape at 3 – 6 MG.

Niggles

First niggle is with the drip tip bung. It is fidly, a loop attached to the pod would stop it readily falling to the ground.

Lastly the pod only holds 1.5 ml, 2 ml would seem more in keeping.

Summary

Dinner Lady Pod is available in Lemon Tart, Blue Menthol, and Smooth Tobacco

While everyone may not be interested in a throw away pod. The Dinner Lady Pod Device will serve as a great smoking cessation for those initial steps, especially with the great flavour of Lemon Tart. Furthermore it will also serve as an emergency backup that can easily be stored. However I do feel the need for adding a use by date on the packaging.

There is one element that bothers me with disposable vape devices of any kind, and it is environmental. While they have their uses, there needs to be a trade off where materials, can either be re-used or recycled. A simple held by screw design would allow individual components like the battery to be correctly disposed.

A Quick Thank You

It was while at the Vaper Expo at the Birmingham NEC, I was chatting with Fred (Super Guy), deciding what juices to buy. He asked me if I had tried the disposable pods, and while I was stating 20 MG was too much for me, he handed one for me to take away and try out a few puffs to see what I thought. I am so glad he did. This is definitely one pod, that will be in my travel packs as a break glass in case of an emergency.
